This wind farm consisting of six Vestas V112-3.0 MW wind turbines with a 140 m hub height was developed and constructed by Ilmatar, who also currently manages the wind farm.
Latamäki is located in the southern area of Luhanka municipality, which benefits from the windy Lake Päijänne and the elevation of approximately 200 meters above the sea level.
The development and construction of Latamäki started in early 2012 and was extremely efficient. The wind farm has been operational since November 2014. Ilmatar had the role of an EPC contractor during the construction and carried the overall responsibility of the works.
The wind farm has reached its targets in energy production and has high availability due to the efficient management of the wind farm. Nowadays the wind farm is also a significant landmark for the whole community. The citizens have embraced the farm as their own, expressing their satisfaction and high level of acceptance towards the farm in a recent study executed in the area (see the study, in Finnish).
Financing and management
Ilmatar also orchestrated the financing for the wind farm and brought a whole new mode of operation to the Finnish market, as Latamäki was the first ever purely project financed wind farm in Finland.
Latamäki was also the first joint effort between Ilmatar and SUSI (see press release). The cooperation was very successful and satisfying for all of the parties involved, and has led to a mutually beneficial long-term partnership.
The high quality technical and commercial management of the wind farm is provided by Ilmatar Service Oy.
