The wind farms Möksy and Louhukangas are located in the municipality of Alajärvi in the Southern Ostrobothnia region. The area, which is partially forested and partially discontinued peat production area, benefits from an elevation up to 200 m above the sea level. The wind farms comprise of 42 wind turbine locations. The municipality has granted building permits for each of the locations.
The wind farm development was started by Ilmatar and later on a partner with a global significance, namely EDF Renewables, joined the effort by acquiring 70% of the projects. Ilmatar managed the EIA process and is the responsible party in the master planning process. Both of these processes were professionally and successfully conducted in cooperation with several authorities.
Ilmatar and EDF Renewables are preparing to construct the wind farms in the near future. EDF Renewables is one of largest companies in the field of renewable energy.
“We have been working with ILMATAR for several years now. ILMATAR is an experienced, professional and a relevant actor of the Finnish wind industry. Our cooperation, based on a project specific approach, is very efficient and successful. Having ILMATAR as a partner represents a strong added value to our projects.” says Nicolas Voyez, Project Director, EDF Renewables
Once operational, Ilmatar Service Oy will ensure the high quality of the technical and commercial management of the wind farm.
